Attorney Ellzey Becomes Judge Advocate Officer for Air National Guard

David Ellzey, who is one of our lawyers at Buckmaster & Ellzey, has taken on an important new role within the Florida Air National Guard, which is the Florida National Guard's Air Force component. The lawyer is taking on the position of a Judge Advocate Officer, or a military officer who is charged with the responsibility of providing commands and military members with legal counsel. Before becoming a First Lieutenant for the Staff Judge Advocate Office of the 125th Fighter Wing, Mr. Ellzey spent 16 years serving in the U.S. Air Force and in the Florida Air National Guard as a weather forecaster. During his military career, he was activated in 2001 for Operation Noble Eagle, and he was activated again in 2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Attorney Ellzey is entering into the position of a drill status guardsman, which means he will be considered a citizen airman and will be activated for state and national emergencies during the times he is performing duty. In addition to performing duty one weekend a month, he will also do two weeks a year. The 125th Fighter Wing is at the Jacksonville Air National Guard Base, which is in Jacksonville, Florida. As a Judge Advocate Officer, Mr. Ellzey is part of the Judge Advocate General's Corps. (JAG Corps). He is actually now undergoing his training at the Officer Training School at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama.

For Mr. Ellzey, becoming a Florida Air National Guard Judge Advocate Officer is a significant honor that he is proud to carry out. He called himself "really fortunate" to have the chance to serve his state and his country while also maintaining his role as a local community member. Meanwhile, Attorney Jeremy Buckmaster described military service as "one of the highest callings" and said that his team is proud to have veterans at Buckmaster & Ellzey.

As a private attorney at Buckmaster & Ellzey, Attorney Ellzey mainly focuses on family law, which includes matters of divorce, child custody, child support and more. Before going into private practice, he was an Assistant Public Defender in Volusia County, Florida. His ability to obtain a high number of Not Guilty jury verdicts resulted in him receiving the "Capture the Flag" Award from the Public Defender's Office.
